Goal: Students will develop “green sense.”
Objective: By watching the Green Sense video, students will develop “green sense” by becoming aware of damage to the Earth caused by man’s bad environmental habits, current environmental world issues, and become inspired by the photos depicting man’s inventive strategies to help become more environmentally responsible.
Strengths and Weaknesses/What Would You Change: For the most part the “Green Sense” digital story project is extremely visually stimulating and thought provoking. I feel that our group’s choice to use of the web 2.0 application Animoto enhanced the creative process and the message of the story. One of our greatest strengths is our ability to work together as a team. Bethany Stiefel did a wonderful job leading the charge and stepping up as “team leader” for this project. The cornucopia of photographs each member contributed added to the diversity of the story as well as the multitude of interpretative qualities of the subject matter.
To be honest – it is really difficult to find a weakness. Playing devils advocate here – the only weakness would be the non-linear aspect of our story. A storyboard of sorts would have probably helped in this process – but otherwise we did a great job. I feel a horn tooting is due here.
With this in mind, the only change that I would make to the project involves time – a week or two to make a storyboard and a true plot for our project – and a thrilling mystery of sorts – what would happen to the earth – with a stimulating post apocalyptic end showing what the world will look like if we keep up this madness.
